I also, don't agree with the fact that they can hold onto your credit card details and there is nothing you can do about it. The reason I have given 3 stars is because I believe, it is too easy to sign up for a subscription without fully knowing what you are signing up for. And from what I can tell, there is no auto-renew selected (which shouldn't work anyway without payment information). After my refund I was able to go into my Shutterstock account and delete my credit card details. Maybe this depends on who you get on the other end of the phone, and maybe I was lucky in this instance. I had to pay $10, (what it would have costed for the one month subscription) which I thought was fair, and they refunded the second month subscription cost which had already come out of my account. HOWEVER, when I contacted the customer service team, I explained that I had subscribed unknowingly, and they cancelled my subscription with no questions asked. I read various reviews on here and other review sites where customers were unable to cancel their subscription, and had a poor response with Shutterstock's customer service, which fuelled my anxiety even more. At that, I felt somewhat anxious that they could just take payments out of my account and there was seemingly nothing I could do about it. After this, I went into my Shutterstock account, and realised I could not simply cancel this subscription or delete my credit card information off the system. Judging by the reviews I have read, I am clearly not the only person to fall into this trap. I think Shutterstock should help the customer by showing (in a very transparent way) what they are signing up for. When I bought the images, I thought I was paying for 4/5 downloads, in actual fact I had paid for an annual subscription. To be fair, they do have a vast selection, and there were quite a few images I wanted, so I decided to purchase them. Shutterstock is an American provider of stock photography, stock footage, stock music, and editing tools it is headquartered in New York. I went to Shutterstock as it appears to be a household name for images.
